On Monday, vet Sam X-rayed her and removed the two air rifle pellets as seen on the X-ray, we were monitoring her red blood cell count for any internal bleeding, on Tuesday this had continued to reduce so Mabel was given another anaesthetic to explore her abdomen. Vet Rebecca found a 1cm laceration on her spleen which was bleeding, the pellet had also grazed her small intestine. Close to her liver a small amount of fur was found, which must be from where the pellet had entered her abdomen. Mabel needed close monitoring overnight so went to VetsNow.
On the Tuesday we saw her again and she was so bright she jumped out of her carrier and was exploring the consult room.
Luckily Mabel has made a full recovery, this is partly due to Mabel finding her way home after the incident and swift action from her owners in seeking veterinary advice
